2120119 I've lived in and around Geneva for 25 years, and I've never known the existance of the Illinois State Training School for Girls; until I saw a local photography exhibit explaining the history of the Girls Reform School and the girls who attended. The only thing left is a small cemetery, surrounded by a couple concrete pillars. Read more about the school: http://geneva.patch.com/articles/beware-the-girls-school-ghosts Established in 1893, it functioned for most of its long history as a home for juvenile girls who had been convicted of offenses punishable by law. Julia Plato Harvey and the Geneva Improvement Association first brought the Girls' School to Geneva, and it was founded with the best of intentions. During its long history, a number of infants were born, and died on that site. Likewise, a number of the young ladies who called the Girls' School home died there as well, from a variety of causes.
